{FOOD} Rain, rain...such a Pain...

Crabby from the rain, my sis and I decided to treat our broke selves to some yummy,
uber sweet, banana stuffed french toast at Zaftig's (and potato pancakes w/ smoked salmon
& dill sour cream & tons of lemon juice). I've already posted about Zaftig's,
but haven't posted pics of their famous french toast, which was scrumptious as always,
and you can almost never go wrong with fried potatoes. I always think I like smoked
salmon, but soon realize I only like them in a very specific way, so smoke salmon = fail.

{DIVA} Ga-in x W Korea

Photobucket
Photobucket
I love the photos in W Korea (more so than the W here). The Korean lady celebs always look fierce and it's great seeing them outside of the typical Korean image of femininity.

Brown Eyed Girls' Ga-in looks fieeeerce (trying to go for that Beyonce meets Posh Spice look) in this layout for W. (Personally I liked her hair when it was short, but evidently, it was a wig). Her classic Asian features are incredibly fitting to her face, and she proves, there's no need to go scalpel-crazy. With alabaster-like skin, she makes pale look good~

{FOOD+STYLE} Indian Spice

My sister and I had lunch today at one of our fave Indian restaurants,
Punjab Palace (Allston, MA). The dishes are very home-style and the spices
& sauces are bold, flavorful and hearty. Formally a die-hard chicken
tikka masala fan, I have now ventured out to the vegetarian world (such as
Chana Masala and Aloo Gobi), and I have to admit, going meatless is not scary
in the slightest bit. The sauces used in Indian food have so much flavor that it can
dress anything up, and so I most definitely recommend trying a vegetable entree the
next time you go to an Indian restaurant. They make eating veggies a cinch.

Clear Flour Bread (Brookline/Allston, MA) is a hidden gem located in a nook right next to Lawton Park on the corner of Thorndike & Abbottsford/Lawton. Everything is home made in their open kitchen, and the smell and decor reminded me of the bakeries in France. When you step in, it smells indescribably divine. If you are ever in need of delicious crispy baguettes to eat with your wine and cheese or craving the perfect chocolate chip cookie, trek on over to this delightful bakery. You won't be disappointed by the baked goods, that's for sure ;)

{SHOES} Nude for Spring

Photobucket
PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
I am absolutely in love with nude shoes (especially with tan legs). The models are a bit pasty, but trust, the contrast of bronzed skin and nude heels work so amazing together. Since the color is subdued, it allows for a more daring silhouette and design. Burberry Prorsum always comes out with a great "it-shoe" every season, and I am totally adoring these nude platform strappy sandals.

Gong Hyojin (or her stylist) put together a really great look. The DVF floral dress totally compliments the elaborate tulle Fendi platforms. And I love how she adds her personal touches to runway looks by adding a belt and wearing a different heel, which may not seem like much, but it makes her look more distinct. I'm not a big fan of the hair, but she looks better than the runway model and her outfit is so cute that it doesn't even matter.

Fendi's S/S 09 runway show was airy, flouncy & feminine. The models reminded me of modern nymphs. And the shoes! Completely dispelling the stipper motif, they are the most classy yet dynamic, transparent plastic heeled platforms I've ever seen.

As the sun starts to make its long-awaited appearance, it's time to bust out the shades. I love these pics of Hyori for Guess Eyewear. Especially the first shot---so old school glamour.

These Derek Lam platforms are definitely sunshine friendly.
Nautically-inspired, the stud and rope detail add a modern touch
& the harness effect give these shoes more edge and standout power.
Since the shoe itself has a heavy look, it would compliment with
something lighter like a flouncy mini skirt or some summery shorts.
