{BAKING} Sweet lil' Pumpkin'

After watching Dear Food Network: Top 10 Thanksgiving Problems Solved, I decided to try making Tyler Florence's recipe for the ultimate pumpkin pie---a Pumpkin Banana Meringue Pie.
For the filling:
  • 2 whole sugar pumpkins*
  • 6 bananas*
  • 3 large eggs, plus 1 egg white
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Pinch kosher salt
6 bananas was a bit much and turned it into more of a monkey pie, so...I recommend using 4 bananas instead. Also I used canned pumpkin puree and Pillsbury's ready-made pie crust. (Don't forget to bake your crust first!!! ) And I couldn't whip meringue manually, so I opted to use marshmallows, which actually turned out really yummy and cool :D

{COOKING} A Fall First: Thanksgiving Dinner

These are the results from a successful all-day adventure in the kitchen (excuse the amateur photos).
The roomie received a free 15 lb. bird from work, and so began, "Operation: American Thanksgiving."
Usually a Korean-American Thanksgiving consists of not only turkey, but also galbi and
kimchee = major taste bud confusion. Forgoing the standard Korean-American Thanksgiving
feast, I decided to make just turkey. And the results, not too shabby! Evidently, it's all about
BUTTER. I shoved a whole stick of it mixed w/ thyme, rosemary & garlic (recipe
courtesy of FN chef, Tyler Florence) and stuffed the bird with sweet'n'savory cornbread w/
caramelized onion stuffing, and the combo tasted scrumptious. The sweet cornbread lessened
the need for dollops of cranberry sauce, and the butter added the much needed fat to make the
turkey juicy and skin, crispy. The green bean "casserole" came out as a bit of a disappointing
failure, but the three cheese mac'n'cheese with pancetta made up for it :) All in all, stomachs
were filled to the point of glutton-induced combustion. Uhhh...SUCCESS?

Boston isn't exactly the fashion mecca, but bet on that
there are plenty of fashion conscious people here who have
their own style and are workin' it :)

{FOOD} Yummy Treats---Asuki Cream

PhotobucketPhotobucket

I just rediscovered an old treasure from Japonaise Bakery at their
newly opened shop on Babcock St. They have tasty pastries,
sandwiches and fresh coffee. Also offering wireless, this will
soon become my new chill spot. The Asuki cream was perfect---
not too sweet and just the right size. It's a croissant with a
lightly sweet red bean paste & whipped cream filling.
I highly recommend!!!

{SHOES} Old Europe

Photobucket
Photobucket
Evoking the Victorian style of France and England, my picks are the satin bow heel
& oxford wedge booties

Satin-y ultra feminine heels always remind me of the regal, luxurious fashions of Versailles and European royalty.
Immediately, I envision Sophia Coppola's gorgeous film "Marie Antoinette." Watch it, even to just admire the cinematography :D
